Jay Chou Dong Feng Po
(The Song of East Wind)

Let's improve our Chinese by understanding this song - Jay Chou Dong Feng Po (The Song of East Wind).

This Chinese pop music uses ancient Chinese writing styles therefore you may find that it's as if you're reading Chinese Shakespeare.

The 'Po' in the title is a style of Chinese folk song in the past. That's why I've translated the title to The Song of East Wind. In ancient Chinese, the style of the music is often written into the title. Thus, you can look at the title and immediately know what style it is in. I do not know much about The Song of East Wind, but I guess in the context of this song, The Song of East Wind is a sad song.

I've also checked the background of this song, the lyricist says that there's no origin to the lyric, even though it seemed like the lyric could be taken from some ancient Chinese text. It is simply telling the feelings after the couple separated. So basically, this Chinese pop song is using The Song of East Wind to explain the pain of lovesickness after separation.

Lastly, this Chinese pop music is taken from Jay Chou's album - Ye Hui Me. Included in this album are great music like 'Ni Ting De Dao' (You Can Hear), 'Qing Tian' (Sunny Day), 'Yi Fu Zhi Ming' (On Father's Name), etc.

Special Note:
Where a bracket [] is used in English translation it means that: The particular word is not actually written in the Chinese lyric, however it is included to make the translation more understandable.

However, the words in [] are my own interpretation based on my understanding of the Chinese lyric. Thus it may not be the most accurate meaning to the lyric.
